- We spent a lot of time talking about friendship, and who we each would be friends with in this story. We all think we'd be friends with Rhetta, since she seems really nice and creative. We are not sure that we would be friends with the cheerleader girls, except for Ruby Santiago, since she is nice and not like those other rude girls.
- We wonder why all of the cheerleader girls wore the same shirt on the first day of school.
- We also talked a lot about the kind of friends we can have as we grow up. We decided it was OK if we drifted apart from friends we've had for a long time, and we are also looking forward to keeping friends as well as making new ones as we start a new beginning next year.
- On page 92, when the students were screaming "Meat Is Murder," it reminded us of one of our group members who is a vegetarian! She admitted that while she is a vegetarian, she would likely NOT be one of those protesters -- especially since she doesn't care to wear ketchup on her face :)

I really like this book and I am excited to finish it. I think that I would get in trouble if I ran around the cafeteria with ketchup on my face screaming, "Meat is Murder!" :)
